In this week's content about technologic devices as well as information systems got me thinking about the pandemic. During the first phases of COVID-19 spread the US was among the countries that was not doing well. The usage of Information systems such as surveillance tracking wasn't something we used. The East Asian states had better outcomes that quelled the virus with the largest reason seeming to be the Surveillance component. With the advanced facial recognition software these countries use to enforce the law. They are not only able to act as a deterrent but also as a means in which the government can track positive cases and locations where they are at the greatest. For a while, we always hear how China has become a country where people constantly fear that they are being watched. This tool of governmentally: surveillance, therefore makes people more likely to be rational and abide by rules. Especially in the case of Coronavirus, if people knew that they are being constantly watched every move they make, they are more likely to be rational and follow the rules. That significantly lowers the risk of spreading the virus. In the reading A person- Centered Guide, Martin poses the question of how information systems can be used for a beneficial outcome, do you think if the US used more digital presence to track cases we would have less mortality? I am on defense on this topic of using surveillance and more digital presence to invade people's privacy. I wouldn't be at peace of I knew I was being watched, that creates some level of unrest. Different forms of information systems can be beneficial or harmful to the purpose they are being used for.

I found the politicization of the pandemic to be a tragedy that resulted in many American deaths and should be considered criminal. We had everything we needed to combat this virus; instead, it became a free for all of propaganda. I agree with you more surveillance would not have solved the issue.
